As part of the “Resilience: Regained Strength” project, the final comprehensive electromyography training in 2024 has been successfully completed for 10 doctors from leading medical institutions in Ukraine who provide assistance to patients affected by injuries and trauma caused by the war.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The training involved:<\/strong>
\n\u2022 6 doctors from the Vinnytsia Regional Clinical Psychoneurological Hospital named after Yushchenko;
\n\u2022 3 doctors from the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Clinical Hospital;
\n\u2022 1 doctor from the “Halychyna” Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center.<\/p>\n

Electromyography is a modern diagnostic method widely used in neurosurgery, neurology, and rehabilitation. It allows for precise examination of the condition of muscles and nerves, determining the level of damage, assessing muscle activity, and establishing optimal rehabilitation pathways. Due to its high sensitivity and accuracy, electromyography provides doctors with an effective tool for monitoring and adapting the treatment process to patients’ individual needs.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cElectromyographic examination helps to identify what exactly the patient needs. If the nerve is intact, rehabilitation measures are prescribed, and it is important not to delay this. If the nerve damage is complete, the focus shifts from recovery to adapting the person to live with such an injury. An orthosis is made for them, and the work takes a different direction. In any case, assistance begins with an examination and determining the degree of damage to the nerves and tissue fibers. So, it is very important that this examination is conducted correctly.\u201d \u2014 Kateryna Zahorodnia, head of the Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine Center at Ivano-Frankivsk Hospital and participant in the training.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t

<\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n \n

The training took place at the “School of Electromyography”<\/strong> under the guidance of Yurii Ponomarenko, doctor of medical sciences, a neurologist of the highest category. The program combined theoretical and practical sessions on stimulation and needle electromyography, which are valuable resources for accurate diagnosis and effective treatment of injuries.<\/p>\n

This training is an important contribution to strengthening the capabilities of Ukrainian doctors, thus supporting the rehabilitation and recovery process for patients affected by the war. The knowledge and practical skills gained are already helping doctors to improve the quality of diagnostics and provide a more effective approach to treatment.<\/p>\n

As part of the “Resilience: Regained Strength” project, we have transferred neuromyographic complexes to the Ivano-Frankivsk Hospital and the “Halychyna” Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

\u201cBefore the appearance of the device, doctors operated using \u2018folk methods\u2019: an ultrasound examination followed by mechanical testing. The availability of the neuromyograph allows everything to be done much faster and more accurately, which means speeding up rehabilitation and increasing efficiency. In September, one of the neurologists completed a special training course to work with the device as effectively as possible.\u201d \u2014 Hryhorii Dunas, director of the “Halychyna” Rehabilitation Center.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t

PROJECT OVERVIEW<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our \u00abResilience: Regained Strength\u00bb project aims to provide crucial assistance to 7 medical institutions in Ukraine located in the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, and Vinnytsia regions. These institutions offer medical and rehabilitation services to various groups of individuals who have suffered injuries, including loss of mobility due to shelling and combat.<\/p>\n

The mission of this project is to help as many affected Ukrainians as possible return to autonomous lives and minimize the social issues caused by the large number of injured.<\/p>\n

The project is implemented with the support of our partner, GlobalGiving.<\/strong><\/p>\n
