Charity is often perceived purely as an emotional impulse, but for us, it is first and foremost a systematic and responsible job.
Over the years of our work, we have established strict internal rules that help us allocate resources rationally and ensure that every single hryvnia reaches its exact destination. Here are the three core principles that form the foundation of our entire work:
1. Working exclusively with official documents and rigorous information verification
When it comes to requests from legal entities (military units, hospitals, shelters, etc.), an official letter of a standard form sent by mail is a mandatory requirement. It must include a wet stamp, a signature, and the contact details of the responsible person, or be signed using a qualified electronic signature (QES).
To help seriously ill children: We request medical summaries and certificates from the hospital. If a child needs help with a hearing impairment, we additionally conduct testing to confirm the diagnosis.
For family-type children’s homes: This requires a comprehensive approach. We ask for an application from the parents, the official document establishing the home, as well as the family’s story and photos.
Today, we no longer look for families on our own — recommendations within the community work perfectly, and we consistently have requests lined up for several months ahead. We deeply appreciate that parents share our contacts, and we remain in touch with many families down the road. To understand their real needs and be as helpful as possible, we ask them to fill out a short Google feedback form.
2. Focus on communication
Practice shows that if you fail to find common ground and establish a normal human connection right from the start, further cooperation is unlikely to work out. When people behave aggressively or inappropriately, we simply terminate the collaboration.
Similarly, phrases like “Buy it exactly here and nowhere else” raise eyebrows. For us, this is an immediate red flag and a sign that the matter requires special attention.
Of course, there are exceptions — when doctors, the military, or families request a specific model of equipment or gear. Sometimes they know best what is more convenient to work with or what exactly will function in their specific living conditions or on the front line, where other equivalents simply cannot hold up.
Yet, even in such cases, we still analyze the request and study the issue in detail. In some areas, we have our own experience and a clear understanding of what will work and what won’t. Where the specifics are more complex, such as large medical purchases, we involve an independent consultant. They help us understand the actual needs of hospitals and navigate tenders. Sometimes even good specialists mistake wishes for reality: they request equipment that staff doesn’t yet know how to operate, or devices that are part of a larger system that the hospital doesn’t have at all. In such situations, we always consult with a competent third party.
3. Flawless progress reporting
We are accountable to people for every single hryvnia spent. Charity is primarily about trust, and trust is built on verifiable numbers and facts. That is why, over the years, we have developed strict, clear, and fully transparent methods for verifying every request and every purchase.
We track the entire journey of aid in detail: from the moment the application reaches us to the moment the equipment starts working in a hospital or at military positions. This approach eliminates any abuse or errors. Yes, collecting and verifying documents requires a lot of time and effort, but we fundamentally do not take anyone’s “word of honor.”
Only official contracts, only transparent reports. Everyone who supports our projects has the right and the opportunity to see exactly how their contribution changes someone’s life for the better.
